A 52-year-old man was ejected in a vehicle crash involving a Lehigh Acres Fire Rescue Ambulance.
Bradley Gene Buffington, of Fort Myers, remains in serious condition at Lee Memorial Hospital after he failed to yield to an emergency vehicle transporting a patient to the hospital, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.
Investigators found Buffington was southbound on Gateway Boulevard and entered the intersection on a red traffic signal.
The ambulance was westbound on Daniels Parkway with a green traffic signal and emergency lights activated on its way to the hospital when it struck Buffington's Jeep Cherokee.
The driver of the ambulance was uninjured. A passenger received minor injuries. The patient being transported to the hospital was uninjured in the crash.
