Johnston, OH : 19-year-old killed in Johnston crash on Wednesday, 19th October 2022

The Ohio State Highway Patrol was busy responding to three traffic crashes in Trumbull County early Wednesday, and one of them was a fatality.

The Southington post of the patrol is investigating a one-vehicle fatal crash that occurred at 6:05 a.m. on state Route 5 in Johnston.

Isaiah D. Metz, 19, of Kinsman, who lost control of his westbound 2008 Pontiac G5, was pronounced dead at St. Elizabeth Youngstown Hospital after he drove off the north side of the road, struck a ditch and a tree before overturning.

Metz was not wearing a safety belt at the time of the crash, the patrol reported, and was partially ejected from the vehicle. An early 911 report stated the driver was conscious as he was pinned under the vehicle. Johnston Township Fire Department, Kinsman Township Fire Department, and Cortland Fire Department assisted at the crash scene.
