A 40-year-old Alexandria man was transported to Douglas County Hospital after his motorcycle crashed into the back of a pickup Wednesday afternoon.
According to Sergeant Tony Kuhnau with the Alexandria Police Department, Jeffrey Schroeder, who was wearing a helmet at the time of crash, was southbound on Minnesota Highway 29 when he collided with the back of a pickup truck that was stopped at the lights at the intersection of Dakota Street near Target.
The crash happened shortly after 3:30 p.m.
Kuhnau said he believes that Schroeder wearing a helmet saved his life.
Schroeder was taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries. The driver of the truck, a 17-year-old boy from Alexandria, was not injured.
