OAKLAND, CA : Oakland police officer injured in crash on Thursday, March 9th 2017
An Oakland police officer was hospitalized early Friday after crashing into another car on Broadway in North Oakland, authorities said.
The officer’s Ford Explorer SUV collided with another vehicle at about 5:25 a.m. in the 4200 block of Broadway, a few blocks from Oakland Technical High School.The officer, who was not identified, was taken to a hospital with minor to moderate injuries, said spokesman Officer Marco Marquez.
The driver of the other car, a sedan, was not injured and there were no other occupants in either vehicle, Marquez said.
The officer was on the way to a priority call when the collision happened, but it was not know how fast he was going.
Following the collision, the police vehicle went over a median and hit a tree and toppled a light pole, Marquez said.
