Morristown, TN : One man killed in crash, impaled by metal pole on Wednesday morning July 2nd 2014
A Hamblen County man died early Wednesday morning after his car ran off Fish Hatchery Road and struck a metal pole.
The Tennessee Highway Patrol says a 1999 Toyota Corolla driven by Gerald C. Bryan, 24, was traveling west on Fish Hatchery Road near Interstate 81 around 1 a.m. when the vehicle went off the right side of the roadway and down a slight embankment into a field.
The car then struck a metal pole which went through Bryan's chest and into the car seat.
Bryan was taken to the hospital where he later died during surgery.
THP says tests indicate Bryan had been drinking prior to the crash.
