DEERFIELD, MA : 1 dead at SUV strikes tree in Deerfield on April, Thursday 6th 2017

Police say one person is dead after their SUV struck a tree in Deerfield.

The accident occurred at about 5:45 p.m. Thursday at the intersection of Thayer and Sugarloaf Streets.

Police say the SUV's driver died and no one else was in the vehicle.

The victim's name has not been made public.

The streets near the crash scene were closed during the investigation, but have since reopened.

The cause remains under investigation.
