FAIRFIELD, CA : Fairfield police arrest Antioch man after car chase, crash on Tuesday, November 29th 2016
A late Tuesday car chase that started on Beck Avenue ended in Green Valley with the arrest of a 31-year-old Antioch man, according to Fairfield police.
The chase started when police tried to pull over a blue Saturn at Beck Avenue and West Texas Street for a suspected traffic violation at 9:27 p.m. only to have the driver take off onto westbound Interstate 80 at a high rate of speed, according to police.
The driver left the freeway at Suisun Valley Road, lost control after he turned onto Neitzel Road and crashed his car. He fled on foot. Police set up a perimeter and called in the K-9s, one of whom found the driver, who then gave up without incident.
Police arrested Norman Martel, 31, of Antioch.
Martel was booked into Solano County jail on suspicion of evading a peace officer, a felony, and driving without a license and hit-and-run involving property damage, both misdemeanors, according to jail records. Bail was listed at $25,000.
His first court appearance was scheduled Friday, the Solano County Sheriff’s Office reports..
