Rice Lake, WI : New Auburn man seriously injured in alcohol-related crash on Saturday, April 8, 2017
A 26-year old New Auburn man was seriously injured in the second alcohol-related crash of this past weekend.
Maxwell Super was airlifted to a medical facility for treatment of injuries, stated a news release issued by the Barron County Sheriff’s Department.
An initial investigation showed that Super was driving west on First Avenue near 28th Street in New Auburn on Saturday at about 4 a.m.
The vehicle struck cement pillars on the Hwy. 53 overpass, and it came to a rest in some trees. Super was extricated from the vehicle.
“Please remember to not drink and drive and do not allow others you know to get behind the wheel after drinking,” said Sheriff Chris Fitzgerald. “These types of incidents are preventable.”
Sheriff’s deputies, the Chetek Ambulance, New Auburn Fire Department and First Responders and Lifelink Helicopter responded to the crash scene.
Alcohol and speed were contributing causes of a one-vehicle rollover north of Rice Lake that seriously injured driver Danielle Melgaard, 24, and Britney Greener, 21, both of Rice Lake, early Friday morning.
