Naples, FL : Passenger seriously injured in single-car crash on Airport-Pulling Road near Pine Ridge Road on Tuesday morning, June 7, 2016

Two people were taken to Lee Memorial Hospital following a single-car crash Tuesday morning on Airport-Pulling Road near Pine Ridge Road, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

Mario Lollio, 26, of Naples, was driving his Kia Sportage northbound in the left lane of Airport-Pulling Road when he turned the car to the right to avoid hitting a palm frond, according to the Florida Highway Patrol. Lollio lost control of the car, which continued traveling northeast on Airport, hitting a concrete curb and striking a guardrail, FHP reports.

Lollio’s passenger, 29-year-old Dana Rosteutscher, also of Naples, suffered serious injuries. The driver had minor injuries, according to the report.

An FHP report states the crash was not alcohol-related and the driver and person did not wear a seat belt.

Lollio faces charges of careless driving and driving with a suspended license, the report states.

The crash was reported at 9:30 a.m.
