DUBLIN, CA : Head-on crash injures three; girl, 2, in critical condition on Thursday, February 2nd 2017
Three people, including a toddler and her mother, were injured in a head-on collision Thursday morning, fire officials said. A sedan collided with a minivan around 9:17 a.m. in the area of Tassajara and Fallon roads, near the San Ramon city border, according to the Alameda County Fire Department.
A 2-year-old girl in the sedan suffered major facial and head trauma. She was taken to Children’s Hospital in Oakland for critical injuries. Her mother, the driver of the sedan, was hospitalized in stable condition.
The driver of the minivan was trapped in her vehicle and firefighters used an electric extrication tool to open the vehicle door. The woman was taken to the hospital, where she is in critical but stable condition.
The California Highway Patrol and Dublin police closed Tassajara Road during the rescue. Several bystanders were on scene when firefighters arrived. An off-duty paramedic, firefighter, nurse and police aid helped the injured individuals.
The cause of the crash is under investigation.
