New Castle, DE : DUI charged in 3-vehicle crash that injured 6 in Delaware on Thursday, June 26, 2014

Delaware State police say a driver was charged with driving under the influence after a three-vehicle crash in New Castle left six people injured.

It happened about 9 p.m. Thursday on Basin Road. Troopers say 45-year-old James Francisco of New Castle was driving a Ford Explorer south when he rear-ended a Toyota Corolla that had slowed for traffic.

Police say the Corolla was forced into the back of a motorcycle, ejecting the operator.

Authorities say the Explorer continued south and turned onto West University Avenue before coming to a stop in a parking lot.

Troopers say the driver of the Corolla; four passengers in the Corolla, including three children, and the motorcyclist were taken to Christiana Medical Center.

Francisco was charged with DUI, vehicular assault and other offenses.
