Greensburg, PA : Driver killed in single-vehicle, high-speed crash on Wednesday October 14 2015
A driver was killed in single-vehicle, high-speed crash in Greensburg Wednesday (Oct. 14) morning, State Police said. The driver, who was not wearing a seat belt, was pronounced dead at the scene by the St. Helena Parish Coroner's office, authorities said.Damien Jerard Carriere, 23, was driving a Ford Crown Victoria westbound on Louisiana 1042 at a high rate of speed around 10 a.m., authorities said. For reasons not yet determined, State Police said, the vehicle left the roadway, became airborne and hit a tree, which tore the Victoria in half.
State Police said driver impairment is not suspected to have been a factor, but a blood sample was obtained and toxicology testing will be performed.
