Crystal River, FL : Three injured in crash on US 19 on Friday, December, 8th 2017
A Florida Highway Patrol trooper walks by a damaged Buick Lucerne that was struck by another car Friday afternoon at the entrance to the Crystal River Plaza at 408 U.S. 19, Crystal River. According to the trooper investigating the collision, Barbara Thomas, 76, of Crystal River, drove the Buick Lucerne into the intersection on a green light. At the same time, Bridget Murphree, 31, of Lecanto, and her passenger, 91-year-old Wilma MacRae of Homosassa, were traveling in a Buick LaCrosse southbound on U.S. 19 approaching the intersection. Murphree ran the red light and her car collided with the front of Thomas’ car, which went off the road and up against a utility pole, according to the trooper. Thomas, who was wearing a seatbelt, was transported to Seven Rivers Regional Medical Center with non-life-threatening injuries. MacRae, who was not wearing a seatbelt, was transported to Ocala Regional Medical Center for a head injury. Murphree, who was wearing a seatbelt, was treated for minor injuries. Murphree was cited for running a red light, the trooper said.
