Hinesburg, VT : Five people injured in a serious head-on crash in Hinesburg Monday morning, August 22, 2016

A serious head-on crash in Hinesburg Monday morning sent five people to the hospital.

It happened around 8:30 a.m. not far from the intersection of Shelburne Falls Road. Witnesses told police a blue SUV crossed over the center line, hitting a white box truck head-on. Police say a man and three children were inside the SUV. The extent of their injuries are still unknown.
The driver of the box truck likely had a broken leg and had to be freed from the truck by firefighters.

"We've got two witness statements that said this vehicle crossed over the line, so obviously we want to know why. What was going on inside the vehicle that crossed the center line and hit the truck," said Hinesburg Police Chief Frank Koss.

Multiple fire departments responded to the scene to help. Investigation into the cause of the crash continues.
