Steuben County, IN : Three hospitalized after head-on crash Wednesday morning on July 16, 2014
The Indiana State Police investigated a two vehicle head-on crash that occurred this morning in the 8600 block of West State Road 4 and hospitalized three people as a result.
Preliminary investigation by Trooper David Poe indicated that at approximately 7:00 a.m., a 1996 Dodge minivan driven by 35 year old Sheila A. Redman of rural Hudson was traveling westbound on State Road 4, between County Roads 800 W and 900 W.
For an unknown reason, she traveled left of center and struck an eastbound 2002 Oldsmobile Aurora head-on. Redman, who was wearing her seatbelt at the time, suffered injuries to her left leg. The driver of the Oldsmobile, 21 year old Kalib L. Jackson of Rome City, who was not wearing his seatbelt, suffered a broken right leg. Jackson’s passenger, 20 year old Benjamin H. Murray of Wawaka was pinned and had to be extricated by fire personnel. He suffered internal injuries and was taken by Samaritan to Parkview Regional Medical Center in Fort Wayne. His condition is not known.
Redman and Jackson were also transported to Parkview Regional and their conditions are not (known) at this time. Assisting Poe at the scene were the Steuben County Sheriff’s Department, Ashley Police Department, Hudson Fire Department, Salem Center Fire Department, Steuben County EMS, Samaritan and Bill’s Professional Towing.
