Davenport,IA : One dead, two injured in Clinton County crash on January, Tuesday 9th 2018

One person is dead and two are injured after a two-vehicle crash Tuesday near Welton, Clinton County Sheriff’s Sgt. Scott Reyhons said.

Reyhons said that Clinton County deputies were sent to a crash with entrapment that occurred at 5:11 p.m. on U.S. 61 about one-half mile north of Welton.

A passenger in the one of the vehicles involved had to be extricated from the vehicle. The person was taken to Genesis Hospital by DeWitt Ambulance.

The driver of that vehicle was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver of the second vehicle also was taken to Genesis Hospital by DeWitt Ambulance.


The names and conditions of those who were injured were not available late Tuesday.

Reyhons said the name of the deceased is not being released until notification of the family.

The crash remains under investigation by the Clinton County Sheriff’s Department.

Clinton County deputies were assisted at the scene by Welton Fire and First Responders, DeWitt Fire and Rescue, DeWitt Ambulance, Iowa State Patrol and the Clinton County Medical Examiner.
