One-vehicle crash kills man near Sandusky Ohio

The Sandusky post of the state Highway Patrol is investigating a fatal crash that occurred on Old Railroad Road at Miller Road in Erie County’s Margaretta Township.Currently the time of the crash is unknown. Law enforcement officials received a call about the accident at 7:29 a.m. Thursday.

Timothy W. Wright Jr., 34, of Castalia, was driving a 2004 Infinity I35 southbound on Old Railroad Road when his vehicle went through the T-intersection with Miller Road without stopping at the posted stop sign, crossed Miller Road and became airborne for about 100 feet, striking an overhead branch on a small tree located on private property and landing in a yard, troopers said. Wright's vehicle continued southbound through the yard, through a creek and struck a tree. Wright was not wearing a seat belt, and the driver’s side air bag deployed in the crash, troopers said. The front air bag did not deploy.

Wright's body was removed from the vehicle with the assistance of the Jaws of Life and transported to the Ransom Funeral Home in Castalia. The vehicle was towed to Moore’s Body Shop in Castalia by Fast Times Towing.
