Beaumont, TX : Head on collision with semi in Jasper leaves one dead, two injured on Tuesday, 18th October 2016
At approximately 1:00p.m., the Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) received a report of a multiple vehicle crash on Highway 190 in Jasper County. The crash occurred approximately two miles west of Jasper.
A 2002 Dodge pickup truck was traveling eastbound on Highway 190. A 2013 Western truck tractor semi-trailer was traveling westbound on Highway 190. For an unknown reason, the driver of the Dodge pickup truck crossed the center dividing line into the westbound traffic lanes. The driver of the 18-wheeler moved to the shoulder of the roadway to avoid colliding with the Dodge pickup, but the Dodge struck the front left portion of the 18-wheeler.
The driver of the Dodge pickup truck was identified as Averil Gore, a 51-year-old male from Woodville. He was transported by ambulance to Jasper Memorial hospital in critical condition. At approximately 2:23p.m., the driver was pronounced dead at the hospital by Judge Billingsley.
The female passenger of the Dodge pickup was transported to Jasper Memorial hospital with non life threatening injuries. There are no further updates on her status.
The driver of the 18-wheeler, a 35-year-old male from Livingston, was transported by ambulance to an area hospital with serious injuries.
At this time, all eastbound and westbound lanes of Highway 190 in Jasper County reopened at 4:47 p.m. Motorists are urged to use caution while traveling in the area due to possible slow-moving traffic.
From the preliminary investigation, the towed tanker unit was empty and there were no apparent leaks due to the impact caused by the collision.
