CHAMPAIGN, IL : Savoy man killed in crash on I-57 on Monday, January, 15th 2018
Illinois State Police said a 58-year-old Savoy man was killed in a two-vehicle crash on Interstate 57 at 10:18 a.m. Monday.
Police said the man was driving a pickup truck north on I-57 when he lost control, slid through the median sideways and entered the southbound lanes of traffic. His pickup struck the front driver's side of a box truck heading south driven by a 65-year-old Paxton man.
Police said both drivers were taken to an area hospital. The Savoy man later died from his injuries, police said, and the Paxton man's injuries were not considered life-threatening. Their names were not released by police.
