RICHLANDS, NC : Teen dies in head-on collision on April, March 1st 2017

A 19-year-old woman was pronounced dead on scene after she entered oncoming traffic and struck a 18-wheeler head on.
Kayla Swindle, 19, of Richlands was traveling south on U.S. 258 in the left hand lane when she crossed the center lane and collided with the truck head on.
“Ms. Swindle was pronounced dead on scene,” Highway Patrol Trooper JD Kirk said Saturday night. “It doesn’t appear that alcohol or speed were related factors, but the investigation is still open.”
The collision happened at 3:25 p.m. Saturday and the road was closed throughout the afternoon and evening until about 8:15 p.m.
The driver of the 18 wheeler, Richard Leathers of Jacksonville, was uninjured.
