PHOENIX, AZ : 1 dead, 1 seriously hurt after rollover crash in north Phoenix triggers power outage on Thursday, 29th December 2018

One person is dead and another is in critical condition after a vehicle crashed into a power pole Thursday afternoon in north Phoenix.

The collision was reported near N. Cave Creek and Hatcher roads, according to Phoenix police.

The driver has been identified as 36-year-old Christopher O'Dell. The passenger, a 23-year-old man, remains in extremely critical condition.

Phoenix police said an SUV was traveling southbound and lost control. It rolled over and collided with a utility pole.

Police said the SUV was driven by a "rideshare" driver.

Police believe speed and impairment were factors in the crash.
