MARION COUNTY, FL : Man, 79, dies in car crash on Saturday, 17th August 2019

A 79-year-old man died as the result of a two car crash Sunday afternoon on a private drive at the Market of Marion Farmer’s Market south of Belleview, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

The victim’s name in the 2:15 p.m. crash had not yet been released as of Sunday evening.

According to an FHP press release, “for unknown reasons” the front of the 1998 Toyota Corolla driven by the victim collided with the rear of a 2003 Chevrolet E3500 driven by William T. Ihle, 39, of Fort McCoy as the two vehicles traveled west on a private drive at 12888 SE U.S. Highway 441.

The same street number is listed as the address of Marion of Marion Farmers Market On the business’ website.

The FHP release stated that after the first collision, “the Toyota struck the Chevrolet two more times.”

The driver of the Toyota was pronounced deceased at a local hospital, while Ihle remained at the scene and his injuries were listed in the release as minor.

A passenger in the Chevrolet, Melissa Danley, 41, of Ocala, was taken to a local hospital for treatment of “non-capacitating injuries,” the release stated.

The FHP release indicates Ihle and his passenger wore seat belts, while the victim did not wear a seat belt.

No charges were listed in the release.
