Brandon, FL : Two teens injured, 1 impaled in one-vehicle crash in Hillsborough County on Sunday morning, June 26, 2016

Two teenagers were hospitalized Sunday morning after the car they were in hit a guardrail that tore through the vehicle and impaled the front-seat passenger, according to authorities.

About 2:30 a.m., Bradley Penny, 16, of Brandon, was driving a 1999 Honda Accord at 45 mph west on Bloomingdale Avenue, Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office spokesman Larry McKinnon told the Tampa Bay Times.

For unknown reasons, Penny drove off the road and hit a guardrail west of Bell Shoals Road. The rail pierced the front-seat passenger, 15-year-old Carter Price of Brandon, said McKinnon.

The teens were taken to local hospitals with unknown conditions.
