Orlando, FL : Elderly Umatilla man dead after head-on crash on SR 19 on February, Sunday 25th 2018

A 73-year-old Umatilla man died after driving on the wrong side of the highway and colliding head-on with a Chrysler van Sunday afternoon on State Road 19, the Florida Highway Patrol said.

Robert Hogg was driving a 1992 Chevy pickup truck south in the northbound lanes of the highway around 4:50 p.m. when he crashed into the van carrying 55-year-old Daniel Couse, of Umatilla, FHP Sgt. Kim Montes said.

Couse was airlifted to the Orlando Regional Medical Center, where he in a “serious but stable condition,” Montes said.

Hogg was transported Florida Hospital Waterman, where he later died, she said.

The investigation into the crass still ongoing.

“We think it’s an elderly-driver thing,” Montes said. “We don’t think it was willful.”
