Sources connected to the investigation of a car crash that killed an off-duty firefighter overnight Wednesday
Flags are at half-staff Thursday morning after off-duty Cleveland firefighter Theodore J. Wright, Jr.'s pickup truck crashed into a telephone pole and died.
Cleveland Fire spokesman Lt. Larry Gray says the 32-year veteran was married with children.
The crash is being investigated by CPD’s Accident Investigation Unit.
EMS arrived at the scene on E.71st and Claasen Avenue around 3:10 a.m. on Thursday.
They said Wright was partially ejected and still trapped inside of the vehicle. He was the only person in the vehicle and no one else was injured.
EMS said Wright died on scene, but he was taken to the hospital because of the large crowd. The cause of the crash is still unknown, police said.
