Freedom, N.H : One died, 1 injured after a Fatal car accident near Ossipee Lake Road on Sunday, May 8, 2016

The Carrol County Sheriff's Office responded to a fatal crash that has left 1,500 residents without power.

Police said Edward Conway, 23, of Billerica, Massachusetts, hit an electrical pole while driving around 7:30 a.m. Sunday near Ossipee Lake Road.

Conway died at the scene. His girlfriend was a passenger and was transported to the hospital with minor cuts and bruises. Police say speed was a major contributor.

Fifeteen hundred residents in the area are left without power and Eversource said power should be restored by 1 p.m. The road is now open to one lane.
