Jasper County, SC : Kevin R. Benoit, 51, killed in fatal crash in Jasper County on Friday night, November 28, 2014

The South Carolina Highway Patrol is investigating a fatal accident that happened Friday night in Jasper County. Officials say a driver was killed after running off the road on southbound I-95 near mile marker 29 into the Coosawhatchie River. Kevin R. Benoit, 51, of New Bern, North Carolina, was killed in the accident, according to the Jasper County coroner. According to Senior Trooper Hannah Wimberly, Benoit's 2003 Nissan Xterra was traveling south on I-95 and ran off the road near mile marker 29. The vehicle ran into the Coosawhatchie River and became submerged. Benoit was only one occupant inside the vehicle. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
