Santa Ana,CA : Man charged with murder, DUI for deadly California crash on May, Friday 18th 2018

A man with two previous drunken driving convictions has been charged with killing a woman and injuring three other family members when his car plowed over a sidewalk in Irvine.

Kamal Attoh of Santa Ana was charged Friday with second-degree murder and driving under the influence. It’s unclear whether he has an attorney.

Prosecutors say Attoh had a blood-alcohol level of nearly three times the legal limit when his BMW lurched off the road Wednesday night and struck the family.

Prosecutors say 45-year-old Jeongmi Choi of Irvine was killed. Her husband was treated for a ruptured spleen and other serious injuries, her 18-year-old son had a broken nose and her 15-year-old daughter needed stitches.

If convicted, Attoh could face 22 years to life in prison.
