Dearborn Heights, MI : Dearborn Heights woman killed in fiery crash on I-94 on Tuesday, 11th February, 2020

Michigan State Police responded to a fiery crash on eastbound Interstate 94 Tuesday morning around 1:10 a.m. that left a Deaborn Heights woman dead.

Just after midnight, police received phone calls about a disabled Ford SUV that was blocking the right center lane on I-94 near Middle Belt Road in Romulus, according to Lt. Michael Shaw of the Michigan State Police. The male driver's four-way flashers were activated.

A 30-year-old female driver of a Jeep SUV, who was headed in the same direction, rear-ended the Ford and went down into the ditch. Her Jeep caught fire in the median.The female driver was pronounced dead on the scene.

The driver of the Ford was transported to a local hospital. He is believed to have a fractured back.

The investigation is ongoing.

Police closed eastbound I-94 for more than five hours, but it has reopened.
