Fort Wayne,IN : Driver charged in fatal crash on December, Saturday 16th 2017

A man was charged in a two-vehicle crash that killed a woman early Saturday.

Erick Martinez Rivera, 27, of the 3000 block of Stinson Drive, was initially charged today with criminal recklessness.

A witness told police Rivera was driving a Ford pickup truck when he ran a red light and struck a Chevrolet Traverse driven by Chelsie A. Montgomery at Pontiac and Clinton streets just before 3:30 a.m. Montgomery was thrown from the vehicle and died at the scene, court records said.

A police report said Rivera refused a chemical breath test and police had to obtain a search warrant to get a blood sample from him. The results of that test are pending, the report said.
