MURFREESBORO, TN : Two people were critically injured in a crash in south Murfreesboro on May, Monday 8th 2017

Two people were critically injured in a crash in south Murfreesboro on Monday morning.

One victim was taken by helicopter to Vanderbilt University Medical Center while another was taken by ambulance.

Witnesses told police a car traveling north on South Church Street ran a red light at Joe B. Jackson Parkway and crashed into a semi-truck, which was turning from Joe B. Jackson Parkway to go south on Church Street.

Northbound lanes of South Church Street are expected to be closed for several hours while the investigation continues. Traffic is being rerouted at this time.

Murfreesboro's fatal accident crash team is investigating.
