Avon, MA : Man and woman dead and three others critical condition after a police chase ended in a crash in Avon early Monday morning, April 27, 2015
Authorities say a man and a woman from Brockton died and three other people were injured when a car fleeing a traffic stop crashed into a utility pole in Avon.
The Norfolk district attorney's office says it started at about 3 a.m. Monday when police in Brockton became aware of a vehicle honking its horn in a residential neighborhood.
The car took off when police approached and struck the utility pole on West Main Street in Avon following a pursuit.
The pole was snapped in two and pieces of the car were strewn across the road.
The district attorney's office says Matthew Andrade and Denise Moreira, both 21, were pronounced dead at the scene.
The male driver and two other women in the car had serious injuries but are expected to survive.
The crash remains under investigation.
