Elyria ,OH : Ohio 2 closed caused for crash on wednesday morning ,July 15th 2015
A two-vehicle crash on Ohio 2 Wednesday morning shut down westbound traffic for roughly half an hour.
Huron police were called to the westbound lanes of Ohio 2 near Rye Beach Road around 10 a.m. Wednesday after Anne Santamaria, 35, of Elyria, allegedly rear-ended a Chrysler SUV with her 2014 Honda Civic, Huron police Sgt. Terry Graham said.
“The front vehicle was slowing for Cedar Point traffic,” Graham said. “(Santamaria) wasn't paying attention and ran into the back of it.”
When emergency responders arrived, one of the vehicles was smoking, so Huron firefighters were called to the scene as well. The westbound lanes of Ohio 2 were closed down for 20 or 30 minutes as firefighters worked on the vehicle. The two cars were later moved to the shoulder and the road was then reopened.
Santamaria was the only one injured in the crash — she sustained a broken wrist and ankle, and was treated for the injuries at Firelands Regional Medical Center, Graham said.
Santamaria was cited with failure to maintain assured clear distance.
