Estes Park, CO : Girl dies after Weld County ATV crash; two injured on April, Sunday 2nd 2017
One girl died and two other teens were injured after the all-terrain vehicle they were traveling in crashed into a ditch filled with water Saturday in Weld County.
The three girls were driving a side-by-side ATV when it ran into the ditch near Weld County Road 25 at 4:55 p.m., the Weld County Sheriff's Office said Sunday.
"I don't know how much water was in the ditch," said Sheriff's Cpl. Matt Turner. "But it was enough that when the vehicle went in, all the occupants were submerged."
Two of the girls exited the vehicle and climbed out of the ditch, but the third was unable to get out. Fire and medical units freed the teen and began CPR. She was taken to the Medical Center of the Rockies, where she was pronounced dead at about 10:30 p.m. Saturday.
The other two vehicle occupants were taken to the hospital, and their injuries are not known, the sheriff's office said.
The State Patrol will assist the investigation.
