PRESTON, WA : 18-year-old woman critically injured in I-90 crash near Issaquah on Friday, 12th August, 2016
An 18-year-old woman suffered life-threatening injuries when her car collided with a semi truck Friday morning in the eastbound lanes of Interstate 90 between Issaquah and Preston, officials said.
Troopers and emergency personnel responded to the scene, just east of High Point Road, at around 10:15 a.m. after receiving reports of a serious accident, the Washington State Patrol reports.
The critically injured woman was found trapped inside her red Toyota Camry. Emergency rescuers freed her from the vehicle and rushed her to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle, where she is fighting for life with critical injuries.All eastbound lanes of I-90 were closed for nearly two hours after the crash. One lane was reopened just before noon, but a miles-long backup remained. All lanes reopened by about 2 p.m.Highway 18, which was originally recommended as an alternate route, also backed up for miles. Motorists are now being urged to use Highway 202 as a detour.The accident remains under investigation. Some reports suggest another vehicle in the area moved into the woman's lane of the Toyota’s travel, causing her to lose control of the Toyota.
