Authorities say a 14-year-old girl out trick-or-treating in Taylorsville was fatally struck by a vehicle.
West Valley police say Victoria Hillman, who was in costume, was entering a crosswalk Saturday around 7 p.m. when a van hit her and she died at the scene.
The van's driver was cooperative with authorities.
Police say impairment does not appear to be a factor.
West Valley police are handling the case because of family ties between Hillman and Unified police.
A pedestrian-vehicle collision also occurred around the same time in Salt Lake City.
Police say a truck hit a man and three young children riding in a toy wagon in a crosswalk.
One child was hospitalized in critical condition and the others are in serious condition.
