Madison,MS : Madison man killed in crash on December, Sunday 3rd 2017
A 49-year-old Madison man who neighbors say was known for his epic Halloween decorations and had a kind heart and loved the Lord died here in a one-car accident on St. Augustine Drive Sunday evening.
Kenneth M. Cook died after the 2013 Honda Odyssey he was driving struck a tree after it left the roadway on St. Augustine Drive and Beacon Hill Drive, police say.
The wreck occurred at approximately 8:54 p.m.
“According to a witness, the vehicle was traveling eastbound on St. Augustine Drive when it appeared to attempt to make a left turn onto Beacon Hill Drive, at which time it left the roadway and struck a tree,” a release from Madison PD stated. “There were no other vehicles or persons involved in the accident.”
Police say the fatal wreck remains under investigation by the traffic division.
He was president at M&M Development and a former Avionics Petty Officer in the United States Navy.
“Such a sweet man with such a kind heart,” Megan Calleja said in a Facebook post on his page. “They are definitely taking the good ones this year.”
Visitation is Thursday, Dec. 7 from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Sebrell Funeral Home, 425 Northpark Drive, Ridgeland.
The service is a 11 a.m. Friday at the First Baptist Church of Madison with visitation beginning at 9 a.m.
“Yes the man that believed in me 7 1/2 years ago over a phone and gave me a job and that job changed my families life for ever” was gone, Troy Grimes posted Monday from Huntington, Tex., of receiving a text message early Monday morning.
“Even though I had only met Mike once face to face we had become brothers in Christ. Mike had a passion for talking and he truly enjoyed people,” Grimes wrote.
