SWANSEA, IL : 1 dead in 3 vehicle crash in Swansea on Wednesday, 1st May 2024

Investigators shut down part of Illinois 159 in Swansea for a fatal crash investigation.

According to the Swansea Police Department, the crash happened just after 5 p.m. in the 2400 block of Illinois 159.

Police told First Alert 4 that one person was pronounced dead at the scene, and another person was flown to a St. Louis hospital in critical condition.

The road was closed for more than three hours as police investigated the crash, the department said. The road opened just before 8:30 p.m.
