Bellevue, TN : Pedestrian hit, killed by train in Bellevue on Monday, July 20th, 2015

Metro police have confirmed one person is dead after being hit by a train in Bellevue.

The incident happened at 5:45 a.m. Monday near the intersection of Todd Pries Drive and Sawyer Brown Road.

Officials said the man was likely lying in the middle of the tracks when he was hit. According to a witness on-board the train, the man made no efforts to get out of the way.

The two-locomotive CSX train was traveling from Nashville to Memphis and has 60 train cars.

Representatives from CSX were on scene investigating on Monday morning. Railroad traffic remains suspended in the area.
