Augusta County, VA :Man Charged After Tractor-Trailer Crash Blocked I-81 Traffic on Monday, July 6th 2015
Police charged one man after a tractor-trailer accident on Interstate 81 on Monday afternoon.Jerry Barnes was driving a tractor trailer northbound when it started pouring down rain. He says he hit his breaks and swerved into the guard rail to avoid traffic. No one was hurt, but Barnes says changes should be made to make the road safer."We need more state police officers here, because when there's more police officers, people aren't as likely to be driving and slamming on their breaks if they're aware that there are police officers. We could use another lane in here as well, this gets really busy," said Barnes.Barnes was charged with failure to maintain control of his vehicle.Devin Turn contributed to this report.A crash involving a tractor-trailer is blocking part of Interstate 81 northbound in Augusta County. The crash is reported near mile marker 217.
