Liberty, WA : Cashmere man hurt in crash in Kittitas County on Tuesday morning, December 20, 2016

A Cashmere man was hurt Tuesday morning when a box truck hit the Jeep he was driving on U.S. Highway 97 near Liberty in Kittitas County, the Washington State Patrol reported.

Frank Finlayson, 72, was treated at KVH Hospital in Ellensburg and released, a nursing supervisor said.

Finlayson was northbound about 11 a.m. in a Jeep Wrangler when the southbound Freightliner truck crossed the centerline and struck his vehicle.

Troopers said the truck driver — Ho T. Lu, 31, of Seattle — lost control because he was driving too fast for road conditions. Lu, who was not injured, was expected to receive a ticket.

Both drivers were wearing their seat belts. Intoxicants were not suspected of contributing to the crash.
