Grove, CA : Man died and two others minor injuries in multivehicle crash on Interstate 15 on Friday December 18 2015

A man died and two others suffered minor injuries in a multivehicle crash on Interstate 15 near Pleasant Grove on Friday.
Utah Highway Patrol Sgt. Mary Kay Lucas said the first crash involved three vehicles at mile marker 274. At 11:38 a.m., a southbound car reportedly struck a pickup truck that spilled a load of construction staples, Lucas said. The car then hit the center cement barrier, veered to the right and struck an airport shuttle van before coming to rest.
The impact to the shuttle van sent the van across traffic and into a Ford F-250 truck," according to UHP.
Emergency workers extricated a man from the wreckage of the first vehicle, Lucas said. The man, 59-year-old Juan Lopez, of West Valley City, was flown by helicopter to the hospital, where he later died.
A medical condition is being investigated as a possible factor in the crash," UHP reported.
A passenger from the shuttle van suffered injuries that were not life-threatening, according to UHP.
Two more cars crashed moments after the first accident, but no additional injuries were reported.
The accidents resulted in backed-up traffic that stretched for miles between Pleasant Grove and American Fork.
The crash scene was cleared as of about 3:30 p.m.
