Sarasota County, FL : Woman, 91, dies after a three-vehicle crash on Lockwood Ridge Road on Thursday afternoon, April 7, 2016

A 91-year-old Sarasota woman died after a three-vehicle crash on Thursday afternoon on Lockwood Ridge Road.

According to a report from the Florida Highway Patrol:

At 5:25 p.m., Bruna Tinti Boscarino, 91, of Sarasota was driving a 2007 Ford Mustang north in the northwest driveway access of Northeast Plaza and stopped at the intersection with North Lockwood Ridge Road.

A 2004 Dodge Ram pickup truck driven by Matthew Douglas Ladd, 32, of Bradenton was northbound on Lockwood Ridge in the left lane approaching the driveway access of Northeast Plaza.

Boscarino proceeded to cross the northbound lanes of North Lockwood Ridge Road directly into the path of the truck. The two vehicles collided. After impact, Boscarino's Mustang rotated into the southbound lanes of Lockwood Ridge Road where it collided with a 2007 Saturn Vue driven by Pamela J. Bruno, 67, of Sarasota.

Boscarino was pronounced dead at the scene.

Ladd was transported to Manatee Memorial Hospital for treatment of minor injuries. A passenger in his car, Vanesta Watkins, 52, of Bradenton was taken to Sarasota Memorial Hospital with minor injuries.

Bruno was not injured.

The accident remains under investigation.
