POLK COUNTY, IA : A serious two vehicle crash near Bondurant on Sunday, December, 24th 2017

The Polk County Sheriff Department responded to a serious two vehicle crash near Bondurant Sunday afternoon.

The crash happened near Highway 65 and N 72 Street around 2:15 p.m.

The passenger in one of the vehicles died at the scene and the driver was taken to a local hospital.

The four passengers, including a baby, in the other vehicle were also taken to the hospital.

The name of the victim has not been released, pending family notification.

Officials think that snow and icy conditions may have been a contributing factor.
