Falfurrias, TX : Man dead after a wreck on U.S. Highway 281 in Brooks County on Tuesday, October 25, 2016

Texas Department of Public Safety officials are investigating a wreck that killed a man Tuesday near Falfurrias.

About 4:20 p.m. a 21-year-old man who was driving a 2002 Ford Expedition on U.S. Highway 281, about 13 miles south of Falfurrias in Brooks County, overturned, according to a DPS news release.

The vehicle overturned near the U.S. Border Patrol Checkpoint. Mark Anthony Rodriguez of Mission was airlifted via HALO-Flight helicopter and taken to Christus Spohn Hospital Shoreline. Rodriguez was pronounced dead at the hospital Thursday, the release states.

It is unclear what may have caused the wreck and troopers continue to investigate the incident.
