Villa Grove, CO : Two people from Arizona dead and three others injured in Rollover crash on U.S. 285 in Saguache County on Friday, July 29, 2016

A single-vehicle, rollover crash last week in Saguache County left two people from Arizona dead and three others injured.

The Colorado State Patrol says the wreck happened on U.S. 285 on the south edge of the town of Villa Grove just before 9 a.m. Friday.

Authorities say their investigation shows a 2005 Chevrolet Blazer was northbound on the highway when it traveled off the east side of the road for an unknown reason.

“The driver over-corrected the vehicle, causing it to go out of control, travel across the road and off the west side,” the State Patrol said in a crash bulletin. “The vehicle then rolled two complete times and came to rest on its wheels.”

The Chevrolet’s driver, 61-year-old Ronald Hicks, of Phoenix, was pronounced dead at the scene. Tiffany Hicks, a 46-year-old from Phoenix, was flown to Penrose Main Hospital in Colorado Springs where she was pronounced dead.

A 27-year-old woman in the vehicle was taken to Heart of the Rockies Hospital in Salida with serious injuries. Her two children, ages 2 and 6, were treated for minor injuries.

Ronald and Tiffany Hicks were not wearing seat belts, investigators say.

“The crash remains under investigation,” the State Patrol says.
