Charlotte, NC : 55-year-old woman killed in a crash in northwest Charlotte on Thursday evening, May 26, 2016
Charlotte, North Carolina
A 55-year-old woman was killed Thursday in a crash in northwest Charlotte.
The crash happened Thursday evening around 8 p.m. on Brookshire Boulevard near Centre Street. Police said Regina Paulette Strange was driving a 2008 Suzuki Forenza sedan when she ran off the road and struck a large pole for an "Interstate 85 Ahead" sign.
Strange was pronounced dead at the scene. No one else was hurt in the crash.
Investigators said it did not appear that speed nor alcohol were factors, but said witnesses reported seeing the vehicle drive onto the shoulder several times before crashing.
Outbound lanes on Brookshire Boulevard were closed near the wreck.
