SHENANGO TOWNSHIP, PA : A brief car chase and crash on Sunday, December, 17th 2017
Multiple police agencies were searching Sunday night for a man who fled on foot after a brief car chase and crash, according to Mercer County 911 dispatch.
Hermitage police say they tried to stop a car at 7:45 p.m. because they saw suspicious activity. The car took off, and a chase ensued, ending when the car collided with another on Hubbard-West Middlesex Road near State Line Road in Shenango Township.
Police dismissed reports that the suspect fired a gun, and said suspicions that he may have been armed probably were unfounded.
The wooded search area is near Oak Tree Country Club, a nearby rest area on eastbound Interstate 80 and Hubbard Township across the Ohio border. Police dogs and a state police helicopter joined the search.
Among those involved in the search were police from Hermitage, Shenango Township, Farrell and Hubbard Township as well as the Mercer County Sheriff’s Office and state police.
