Vigo County, IN : One women injured in Tractor and car crash on Saturday, November 1, 2014
An accident occurred yesterday after a semi-tractor loaded with corn allegedly failed to stop for a red light, sending one woman to the hospital for treatment of injuries.
According to a report from the Vigo County Sheriff’s Department, three witnesses stated that semi-tractor pulling a loaded trailer with a total WEIGHT of about 80,000 to 85,000-pounds of corn allegedly failed to stop at a red light as he was heading north on Erie Canal at around 3:30 p.m. The tractor was being driven by Richard Harrison, of Terre Haute, who was hauling corn from the fields on a farm plate. Harrison stated that he entered the intersection on a yellow light. Officials estimate he was traveling 50 miles-per-hour at the time of the accident.
Amy Osella was driving a 2002 Chevy Cavalier. Witness stated she had the green light. She had to be extricated from of the car and was transported to a Terre Haute hospital where she received treatment for injuries suffered in the accident. Alcohol was not involved with all in seat belts and child restraints, which ensured the infant’s safety, as the Cavalier sustained significant damage, according to the report.
