Westminster, CO : Driver killed and police officer injured in a collision involving a patrol car in the northwest Denver suburb of Westminster on Thursday, February 18, 2016

Authorities say a driver was killed and a police officer suffered minor injuries in a collision involving a patrol car in the northwest Denver suburb of Westminster.

Westminster police say the collision occurred shortly after 1 a.m. Thursday when a Chevy Malibu turned left in front of the patrol car.

Police say a preliminary investigation showed the patrol car's emergency lights and siren were on.

Officials say the officer was responding to an emergency call about a disturbance involving weapons, possibly a gun.

The names of the officer and the other driver haven't been released.
